Here's a pic of an MDD fan mod that I am currently evaluating in my wife's Dual 1.5 Giga MDD. 92 mm fan runs quietly and heat sink feels cooler to the touch than the Giga original.

OK, A further fan/heatsink mod in the quest for better naturally aspirated cooling.

how did you make the heatplate between CPU and heatsink ? it looks really nice. I definately need to find something like this for my watercooling mod...

Hi Gotoh,
It is made from 8 mm thick metal solid copper bar that is cut & polished. I bought some for my watercooling projects & this is made to the same spec, but it was expensive. If you are interested I have one left, let me know, I am also emailing you the drawing if you feel like having a go yourself.

Hi bb,
Thanks for the compliments. I took out the ramslots ages ago and it is not required for this mod. I removed them so I could experiment with different watercooling setups & as I had 2 x 1 gig memory sticks they were basically superfluous anyway. This also means I can fit other upgrade processors physically to this logicboard, however although they will physically fit (I tried a dual 1.33 giga from a Digital Audio and reverted the bus to 133 from 167 it did not boot). As this had 7455 chips it should have worked, so I can only think that although the connectors look identical they must be wired differently. If anyone has any info or ideas on this I would be very happy to hear them.
PS, That must be one cool running graphics card you have there! I do like the Zalman fans, they are quiet & really well made.

I am sorry I cannot help you with the Digital Audio, maybe Gotoh, he uses to play around with his DA. I put also two 1gig Ram inside my Mirror but as I used 80mm fans I had to cut and polish the fan at the right side to be able to use the second Ram slot . And yes indeed this card is cool, very cool with the Zalman fan and I put beside one mod Artic Cooler for Nvidia to expulse the hot air from the case.

Hi bb, I guess you had to remove the modem socket to get the L/H fan to fit in the space?

Hi bb, I guess you had to remove the modem socket to get the L/H fan to fit in the space? Yes indeed Aquamac . I didn't need it with a cable connection at that time and now with an ADSL through the Ethernet port. But I realized in between that still a lot of people are using the fax. I will then put it back @ the empty hole left by moving the PSU outside the case.
