I have made some mods on my MDD. I posted the photos on the french site : macbidouille.com within the galery in my album called : Modif Mirror Drive Doors , here : forum.macbidouille.com/index.php?act=module&module=gallery&cmd=user&user=18593&op=view_album&album=181 If some are interested, I will put the comments in English too. The temperature are 50-52°C for the CPU, 60°C for the graphic card and 40°C max inside the PSU. The most original mod was to exteriorize the PSU so it could cool faster and not warm up the inside of the case.

Hi bb & welcome to aquamac forums, Wow you certainly have modded that machine! This is the first time I have seen the psu moved externally & must make quite a difference. Good to know that a G5 Processor fan (I used a G5 CD bay fan) will fit above the CD drives. If you have any of your fans connected to the plug where the Apple 120mm processor fan plugs into you may also be interested in the Applefan.kext mod here: aquamac.proboards106.com/index.cgi?board=talk&action=display&thread=1153506778&page=1Regards,

yes, thanks for the link. I had already read this here: bitsandpieces.info/MDDFanExtensionMod.htmand I am intend to do it next for the 120mm which is still pluged to . My "fan-hysteresis-temp" will be 50°C. I have bought 3 speed modulators for the fans so I will be able to adapt the speed to the room temperature. With he external PSU and a room temperature of 23°C , Temperature monitor is giving me 50-52°C for the CPU, 60°C for the graphic card. The screen temperature connected with a sensor is giving me 40°C max for the internal temperature of the PSU. I have read all about your site and I am the one who asked you how to connect the G5 fans on the molex plug when I bought 5 of them on eBay, I burned two of them, never succeed to let them work in my MDD and finally switched the 'logic boards" with some from PC CPU's and all of them are working now.

The G5 fans are wired as follows:
The 2 central wires are negative, one outside wire is 12v & the other is 5v. You can alter the speed by putting a variable wirewound resistor in line with the 12v feed.
