Hey guys,
I've got 3 9800GTX+ cards but I can't get all 3 to be fully used in OSX. :(
I've seen Aqua-mac has triple 280 cards working and I was just wondering how to get triple 9800GTX+ cards functioning in OSX?
I can get dual cards working fine but not triple. :( Also, I get nothing showing in the PCI Cards section of System Profiler but I've noticed that Aqua' does. Any ideas on this? I'm running an Asus P6X58D with a fully working DSDT (except possibly GFX recognition via PCI Slots?).
If you can point me in the right direction I'd be most appreciative. :)
Kind Regards,
Kup

I have just got back from a week away on business. I have to do this on a regular basis, so if your questions do not always get answered immediately, be patient.
You can get information showing in the PCI section of system profiler but this has to be done via DSDT fix. The 3 cards I have working on the Asus is partly due to a bios fix by the King who sometimes frequents these forums - that and obviously the correct strings for 3 cards. The strings I used for the 3 cards have extra information in them to the usual ones that were needed to get QE and CI working. For some reason OSX seems to crash out on 3 cards. Before the bios DSDT fix, I used to lose the first 2 cards when the third card was plugged in, what happens to you?

Hey Aqua, Sorry for the impatience. With two cards I can get them both working fine in Mac. They both show up with CI/QE and function just fine but adding a third card (with relevant string additions for all three cards) causes a hard reboot just before the apple boot screen. I run all 3 cards in Tri-SLi on Windows and they function fine (it's not a power issue or anything is what I mean). Do you have any links or literature on the DSDT fixes I need to apply to get the cards recognised correctly in 'System Profiler/PCI Cards' ? What extra information did you add to the strings for the cards and what bios fix (I assume you mean for your mobo) did The_King apply? Kind Regards.

Hi Kup, Attached is my input list for triple cards on my Asus P6T7. Note the extra items for each card. The last item is a PCIe to Mini PCIe controller with an Airport card. You would have to speak to the King about the fixes he applied to the DSDT within the motherboard bios for this board. Attachments:

Hey Aqua, Thank you for the plist. I'll give it a look over and see what I can do. I've been trying to modify some of the DSDT guides by TonyMac but so far I've fallen foul of the third card (but with the DSDT mods I can actually get the bootscreen, I just get a waiting for root device instead of a hard reboot. Clearly my mods broke one of the native devices...oops. Nearly there...lol I'll keep playing for a day or so but in the mean time, if you could post a copy of your DSDT I'd be most appreciative.

Hi Kup, I am not using any DSDT as the bios mod from "the king" changes the DSDT within the bios itself which negates the use of any DSDT. I need only fake SMC and openhaltrestart kexts + a rocket raid kext in my Extra folder. I include my IOReg if that is any help. Attachments:

Brilliant. Would I be able to get a copy of your bios and I'll extract the DSDT section myself? Thank you for the help so far.

Ok, so very very random. With no change at all, except adding GraphicsEnabler on AsereBLN v1.1.9 all 3 cards are detected and correctly. Both in System Profiler GFX and PCI Cards. The IOREG output is correctly configured for the cards physical position in the motherboard. The only issue is cards 2 and 3 have an unholy amount of ram; about 400TB...lol I can't seem to replicate the results with either EFI Strings or a DSDT fix though.

Great news Kup, This is not an easy thing to do, and you achieved it in record time! Props to you! Could you upload your PCI addresses also, I take it you used slots 2, 4 and 6? This is a nice motherboard and I am sure many can benifit from your work.

Hey Aqua, Yeah I used slots 2, 4 and 6 on the motherboard. The addresses are 3, 6 and 9 on the PCI bus. I'll get the full strings tonight when I get home.

kup, glad to see my DSDT fixes are good for this They where not for public yet, since the BIOS is not finished, but if they helped you to get stuff fixed, I'm happy with that

Hey King, I didn't realise I used your fix in the end as my solution was an amalgamation of various examples and took me a while to work out the placement of the hardware. The DSDT I looked at from Aqua was from the P6T7 guide, not the bios file in the end. And then some work on TonyMacx86 showed me what I was doing wrong. In the end, I'm very grateful for the chance to look over your work and for it helping me out. Now to get the native power management sorted on this DSDT because I take a massive performance hit without NullCPU on 10.6.4...
