I've got the hard drive fitted and it boots OSX fine I've done some quick checks and the CD is bust, if I put a disc in 9 times out of 10 it just thrashes round until I get sick and eject it. The built in speakers are too quiet (quieter than before), I think might need a small amplifier of some sort? Other than that, all is well. 1 x 333MHz to 2 x 1870 MHz CPU 160MB to 1024MB RAM 6GB to 80GB Hard Disk Not an insignificant upgrade!

Very nice,
It would be great to see a mac genius's face if you took this into your local Apple store. I think they may get a bit of a shock! Good to see this project coming to fruition.

Luckily the monitor I used for the LCD had a set of small stereo speakers, amplifier and input socket. I've routed the iMac speakers through the amp, sound level is now back to normal. I've borrowed a DVD drive from the works laptop it shows as "MATnutsA UJDA750 DVD/CDRW" in sys profiler, works fine. I think I can make the original iMac CD escutcheon fit, so I will order a replacement for the works laptop

Madder than a bucket of frogs.
