Ok, i'm going to swear here, but i think this jackass sabotaged the board!!! I'm finding bent pins everywhere!!! Not bent over but bent to the same side as it's brother pin. If i can, i'll get a high res pic of it to show you all.

You mean it looks like deliberate damage rather than accidental. Why would anyone do that?

Well, if it was accidental damage, then this guy must be either blind or stupid when he put in the processor and taken it out. Here are some pics, the best one to see the bent pins would be the second pic. The light hits the pins a certain way and you can see the different shade because they are bent. Bent pins picsThe bent pins were near the bottom, a couple in the middle and a couple up top. Really hard to see, but if you saw what i saw, then it might explain something.

well, it took about 20 min to install the os and that seemed fine. just the bare essentials on panther and it's working now i'm putting through a stress test of chess for 30 min each i will add more ram and processor speed after each successful attempt.
UPDATE. Well after a few games of Crazy house Chess, the computer just froze out. No warning, just dead mouse, no keyboard response. I added ram to dimm 2 and now when i restart the system, it sounds like someone is scratching the speaker for a millisecond and that's it.

Have you had any luck contacting this guy? It seems like he's just extremely careless. I'm concerned that if you install a good processor into a socket with bent pins, this will also ruin the processors pin layout. I could be overreacting though.

Still no response from the user. As for the processor pins, i looked at the modded 466 and the sonnet 1.4. No bent pins, slightly off to the side on some of them, but easily put back in place. I hope i didn't fry the sonnet. i paid good money for that processor from Steve. if anyone wants to know, this is the ordeal when i got the board. Apple Graphite Powermac G4 Motherboard 820-1094-A

Well, it has been awhile, but i got a replacement board locally. Someone was selling a Sawtooth board with processor and heatsink. Still nothing from the user where i got the other board, but oh well. Anyways, i installed the board into the case. All is fine with the 550MHz and the ati rage card. Was able to install the OS and then i encountered my first problem. After everything was installed, it was doing it's optimization. It hung there, still responsive though, but i went away for the night and when i got back, it was still in the same spot trying to optimize. So i restarted my system, it reinstalled from a certain point and finished. Rebooted and all and was peachy. After that, not a problem, not a hickup. Ok, now for some upgrades. CPU and video card. installed either the video card or the sonnet 1.4 and i wouldn't get a startup chime. After much fussing around and swapping other parts i found out it was the firmware. In order to install a sonnet processor, you need firmware version 4.2.8f1. I was able to get OS 9 on a drive and figure out i had 3.3.2f1. Ok!, time to update. Well, after several hours of firmware and installing, i was able to get Tiger back on my system. Then came the next problem. Trying to get programs from my secondary drive installed on my raid again would freeze out the Finder. Everything else worked just fine, but the Finder would always crap out. After realizing that it was my secondary drive that was the culprit i took it out and put it back in my server. Wow, the finder freezing stopped and now i have my system back again. Now i have to transfer all my programs via Ethernet and install them that way. Now the only problem i have is that each time i start the machine, it gets past the apple logo and then halts at the blue screen. Doesn't kernel panic, just halts. Any idea on why this is happening? It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, it's really annoying. I have to restart the system many times before it get's the idea an boots into the OS. I have repaired permissions and repaired the drive but still the same thing. Any ideas?

OMG, you seem to be having more bad luck than an unlucky thing on a bad day. I really wish I could help with some advice, but I'm clueless, sorry.
If this machine pushes you over the edge and you attack it with a chainsaw, please film it :-) LOL
Seriously, I hope things don't turn medieval and you find a solution.

I tried some of that and the rest doesn't pertain to me. I'm still getting the odd non finder boot ordeal. I just hit the reset button a couple of times and it boots right up. I also destroyed my hard drive header doing that too. Had to boot from cd and repair the drive.
