Gotoh, one of the strangedogs moderators and also a member here has started a flashing WIKI at his website Lemamouth. If you want to know how to flash a particular card or have experience of flashing a card, share it with others at Lemamouth, perhaps we can build a real database that helps others! lemamouth.free.fr/aquamac

Don't know if you guys know this, but we might be able to get the X1900 for the G4's after all.... ATI posts info on X1900 G5 Edition (PCI Express) - I'd mentioned this card was coming back in the August 7th news page (equiv. to the PC X1900 GT card) but was still waiting for an official release. Kiven today wrote there's now an ATI product page on the Radeon X1900 G5 Mac Edition. The Specs page has hardware details. (256MB GDDR3 Vram, 2 dual-link DVI-I ports + 9-pin S-video and composite video output, 10.4.7 or later required.) As of around noon eastern today the card wasn't yet listed at the ATI online store (the mac listing had 9800 pro, 9600 pro and X800 - all shown as not in stock) I've written an ATI contact to see if he can provide more info on availability/price. *info from of xlr8youmac* Looks like now we can get these for the older systems?

That is excellent news, all this should help with the future of the X1950 cards also. Do you know what the difference between X1900 & X1950 cards is, I would think the X1950 is made on a smaller architecture to eliminate more thermal problems, I have not looked yet to see if they both have similar ram. If you find out more details, please let me know.

Well according to Wikipedia the PC AGP X1950 Pro will use a RV570 80nm chip with 12(36) pixel & 8 vertex shader units. The ROM from the Mac edition card will be designed for a X1900 GT, this uses a R580 chip, other than that the specs are close .
I don't know much about flashing ATI cards. I think people have had some success using the ROM for the Mac R420 (X800 XT) on PC card such as the R481 (X850 XT).
The other issue is the availability of a suitable renderer in OSX. We know that OSX provides renderer's for the X1600 and X1900, I don't know if the X1900 renderer can be used with the X1950?
