i've got an ALI.... they claim it is mac compatable... but i cant find a driver anywhere.... and its just USB 1.1 as it is (without driver)....( OSX 10.4.3 ) there is another chip other than NEC that runs without drivers.

Found this on the Web:
There are currently 6 manufacturers of the Hi-Speed USB host silicon themselves: ALi (Acer Labs) Intel NEC SiS VIA nVidia (shows as "Standard" controller)

koyaanisqatsi, I have a USB 2.0 card with an ALi chipset, and the only source I know of with native Mac drivers is this: www.opendrivers.com/company/29/ali-free-driver-download.htmlI tried installing the drivers but they seem to be for 10.2.3; under 10.4.6, the .kexts won't load. In any case, OS X recognizes the card just fine by itself. FWIW, I think that 10.4.6 may have fixed the issue with USB 2.0 cards not supporting deep sleep with devices plugged in (an issue I've read about on xlr8yourmac). I have a USB 2.0 external sound card and a USB microphone both plugged into my card and my MDD goes to sleep and wakes up without a hitch.

Hi Rampancy & welcome!
I too have noticed improved support with 10.4.6 & my MDD, which for the first time ever has sleep actually working!
