Hi aqua, hi all.. Well, my G4/800 QS has a new brain now...A NewerTech 1,6 G4/7447A....it is ok for home use. The temperature of the CPU is very cool 27C min-36C max. So i decide to OC to 1,73, and the temp is almost the same... 28c idle - 39 max. Xbench: (not bad for a single cpu) My question is , what is the safe limit to OC this cpu: Table:

Nice one! The single procs overclock nicely and if they are stable and you did not have to up the voltage should not run too hot. You may even get 1.8 out of it, but it may call for a voltage increase. Even so there is nothing like getting something for nothing!!!

ok..1.8ghz, done: Still low temp in idle ...i did some heavy task in Photoshop for about 10 min...and temp get max 45C-48C. No Kernel panic, at the moment. Look at score of CPU in Xbench: (the cpu is a 7447A, not 7455 like shows in Xbench)

I take it that's a single cpu unit? You might be able to get 2 ghz out of it. I remember seeing some time back that those 47A chips were 1.6 ghz base and could be slightly overclocked. Yes, i know where i saw them. Powerlogix uses those same chips. I'll attach a single chip running at 1.6 and a dual chip running at 1.8. Then from there, you can see for yourself. (also remember that this is powerlogix and not newertech) Single chip running @ 1.6 GHZDual chip running at 1.8 GHZ

Yes is very similar to the single cpu..so if you look on the swiches of the 1,6, the actual config is 1-2-4 pin ON...and according to my cpu table, that is 2,4Ghz...but on the dual cpu 4-5 ON = 1,8ghz , that is the same config according to my cpu table. Anyway as Aquamac said, maybe at 2.0ghz it may call for a voltage increase.
