I have been asked by a number of people for the jumper settings for increasing the speed of the 1.8GHz Giga Designs processor:
I have worked out the following jumper settings for the Dual 1.8 Giga Designs processor: Jumpers....................1.....2.....3.....4.....5 1.8 GHz....................O.....O.....O.....X.....X........(13.5x-Std) 1.87 GHz..................O.....O.....X.....X.....O........(14x) 2.0 GHz....................X.....X.....X.....O.....O........(15x)
O= On X= Off
I found 1.87 not to be stable without watercooling although it did boot. Dual 2.0 will not boot even with watercooling!
These following voltage mods were kindly given to me by a forum member.
7447A CPU Voltage Jumper Settings: 1.35v J6- Closed (On) J7- Open (Off) J8- Open (Off) J9- Closed (On) J10- Open (Off) 1.4v J6- Closed (On) J7- Open (Off) J8- Open (Off) J9- Closed (On) J10- Closed (On) 1.45v J6- Closed (On) J7- Open (Off) J8- Closed (On) J9- Open (Off) J10- Open (Off) 1.5v J6- Closed (On) J7- Open (Off) J8- Closed (On) J9- Open (Off) J10- Closed (On) 1.55v J6- Closed (On) J7- Open (Off) J8- Closed (On) J9- Closed (On) J10- Open (Off)
1.6v J6- Closed (On) J7- Open (Off) J8- Closed (On) J9- Closed (On) J10- Closed (On)
1.65v J6- Closed (On) J7- Closed (On) J8- Open (Off) J9- Open (Off) J10- Open (Off)
Please remember, you will void your guarantee from Giga if you touch the voltage jumpers and we are not responsible for any damage caused!

Well I couldn't resist trying 1.55v (it came set at 1.5v) on my Dual 1.87 giga. It has been on for 4 days now, played Halo, Doom & generally thrown everything at it that I can & it is absolutely sound. Now if only I knew the jumpers for 1.6v I wonder if it would boot Dual 2 Gigs........
That would really be worth shouting about!

Found this on one of your affiliate sites. Maybe it might help your cause. Don't know if it will work for the GigaDesigns, but it said it was for the G4's.

Hi JJ,
This is the info I have also, if you look at 14x (near the bottom) with 133 system bus you get 1867 which is where I an running on my Giga. If you see next line down 15x you get dual 2 gigs on a 133 bus. This will not boot with the current voltage of 1.55. The options I am looking for are either finding the 14.5 multiplyer (which may not exist) or upping the voltage to 1.6. This info is nowhere to be found. I may have already found 14.5x but not know it as this may be one of the combinations that will not boot. I have litrally spent hours trying combinations of jumpers (This was how I discovered 1.87 & 2.0 Settings). I have also worked out the relationship between the table above and the Giga jumpers, but I think what I really need is the 1.6volt jumper settings to take this on to the next level.
Talking of overclocking, hows the 1.4 going, must have made quite a difference!
Regards,
Steve.

Well, i tried. What about contacting Gigadesigns themselves? Shouldn't they have info on what the jumper settings are? I know that when OWC still had their processors for sale, they had the diagrams on what jumper settings to use. Too bad they don't have them online still.
As for the 1.4, it's great. Just waiting for the 6200 to come in the mail. Then afterwards, i'm going to get a Quicksilver myself and upgrade that as much as i can. I found out that i can get 3 parts and the rest i have will work. I just pray that the hard drive with all the info on it can handle the upgrade and not hickup like it does with PC upgrades.

hehehe, just sent an email to gigadesigns seeing if they can help out. Hopefully soon i get an answer from them.

Hey thanks for that JJ, Will be interesting to see if they come through! It's not as if I would RMA the upgrade if it broke, as its been watercooled anyway. But would be great to get the first G4 Dual 2 Gig on Aquamac.

Lol, that would be a world record for the mac community. A Dual 2GHz cpu that would be boasted to the rest of the world.
