xHello, I bought a Mac Pro A1186 emc 2113 and the front had been crushed in about 1/2" and it pushed the dvd sliding doors in about the same 1/2 inch. So, I pulled out the aluminum skin with the small holes and got it back to normal. But, the 2 aluminum sliding doors did not work. I looked inside and there is a plastic assembly that holds the doors and it opens the sliding doors when a DVD pushes out its tray and hits the plastic tab on the assembly. The plastic is broken almost in half and it will no longer open the sliding doors. I cannot find anything about this plastic assembly, how to remove it or install it. Any questions about it are answered by explaining how to remove the front clip on the DVD player. Not the doors that I am talking about. Surely someone else has had this problem, Right? Please Help and I am thanking you in advance. ok?

From what i remember, there are a few screws that hold that whole assembly in. Remove those screws and then tilt the bottom towards the power supply. it's a pain to get out, but it does come out. With mine on my mac pro 2006, i was able to take off the back metal and make it so i could push on the outside of the door and make the cd eject that way. if the rollers (aka the tabs that slide with the dvd door) are broken, then it's not going to slide up and down properly. since those hold in little rolling pins and springs.
