I got a ATI firegl x3 that works in pc. I've tested.
When I flashed it with the rom found on macelite wiki for firegl x3, it didn't gave me error but it doesn't seem right. after flashing it reported empty parameters on the new ID, new name, new PN. When I connect it to my mac, the screen was always black
So I install it in my g5 2ghz dp, the screen is black, nothing. I know the system boots though. I use the cd-rom power to power the video. didn't have a molex splitter yet. I was so eager to see it working, but at last nothing... I managed to put back the backup rom blindly by booting in dos with my pc.
What did I do wrong?
is it because i flash it in a PC? should I need a two video card in order to flash correctly? one for viewing and the other for flashing?
please help, I really want that card to work in my computer.
thank you

I did it!! I use the x800 rom instead, and modify the id. just like this post Yes, the Fire GL is an excellent card for MDD G4's. It has Dual DVI & both work. The reason I know this is that I have one & have done this mod! The other good news is you can do the mod yourself. The X800 XT 108 reduced rom is available from strangedogs downloads, but the device id needs to be changed on lines 3 & 8 FROM 48 4A TO 4D 4A.Use Hexeditor 2.0 for Mac OS X to do this. The rom must be installed in the NO CONFIRM flasher of Graphicellerator (also linked from aquamac or strangedogs & the card must be flashed in a mac. You will need a PCI card or VNC & Chicken of the VNC to see what you are doing! Read more: aquamac.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=talk&action=display&thread=121#ixzz2UtrVbwGGI did something different though, I add the newbios at the end of atiflash command. there's still empty parameters on new id, ne name, new pn field. Now it works, I'm not touching it. maybe downloading this mac.softpedia.com/get/Drivers/Radeon-Display-Utilities.shtmlnobody reply, but I do thank all the previous posters. Thank you to you Steve too, if you see this...
