I picked up a PM G5 2.5ghz Quad yesterday which has the standard (crap) GF 6600 and was wondering which is the fastest PC card to pick up for this machine and flash with a Mac ROM?

Fastest cards you can buy for that model is a G5 ATI x1900 256MB. Or flash the PC Nvidia 7800 256MB card into a 7800 GT, or flash the same card with 512 MB to a Quadro FX 4500 card. Unfortunately since it's PCI-e based, the cards are limited for what can go into it.

Nope, the FX4500 rom on that website is made for the 512MB 7800 GT board design, nothing else
EDIT. sorry, i meant the 7800 GTX board design

Sorry reddrag0n, but you're wrong. FX4500 PPC ROM on TME wiki is Retail ROM of Mac Quadro. It works perfectly with pecee Quadro cards, I've flashed few of them (more for MP, but also few for PPC). What was interesting, all PC FX4500 I had were 128K EEPROM ones. It was rare thing in Nvidia world For instance, of many 7800 (GT and GTX) I've had, only certain ASUS cards had 128K chip. FX4500 ROM will need some edits to work with 7800GTX.

Yeah that's a lot of wind in here Mostly Quadro keep hold a fully 128k ROM so you could even flash one for MacPro but the PPC is 64k in size so nevermind - hit it! Use a PC and make your Quad more fast...

Nope, the Quadro use slower RAM, so you need to edit the 7800gtx rom according to the slower speed settings - you only need to get the ROM off themacelite.wikidot downloads - ready to go.

no walk-through, just one step ;-) (or two) Buy a Quadro FX4500 - put it in to PC >> NVflash --index=(depends on slot where the card is (nvflash -ai)) -4 -5 -6 quadro.rom Ready to go! Nothing compares with a 7800GTX 512! There you need to know quite a bit more :-)
