Greetings all, I have suddenly found myself on a cooling kick and just wanted to know if anyone has a personal favorite for cooling their RAM? Copper or Aluminum, etc. Oh, and does color make a difference? All the sinks on a certain website seem to be pink, er, magenta (except for that one MDD with copper). Thanks very much, folks.
Cheers, Chris

Black is probably the best colour (best radiator of heat) but tricky to get hold off, other than that, copper is a great conductor of heat and therefore works well. Quite surprising how warm these can get when fitted. They also add a bit of zing to the interior of your mac!

Hi Chris, Whatever you choose make sure that you have good airflow around the modules. Without the airflow any heatsink will be ineffective. Also, for aftermarket coolers make sure you get good all-over contact between chip and heatsink, and use thermal paste. For the ultimate memory cooling you could try this, unfortunately beyond my budget.

Wow! Water cooled RAM sinks! That would be for the uber over-clocker? I think I'll stick with copper for my lowly PC133 sticks!
Thanks.

I know, kinda bling aren't they! I saw them in Micro Mart a couple of weeks a go and they popped into my head seeing your question. They would go on my dream machine list, along with twin SLI 8800s and flash based hard drives.

Heh, heh. Flesh based hard...uhm, wait! Did you say FLASH? Never mind! But, yes, I agree. Mate (sorry) that RAM up with dual 8800's on a nice 680i based MoBo and a QX6700 CPU and you would have my dream hackintosh. Anybody wanna buy a Kidney?
Cheers, Chris
