 SysProfiler and NVCAPS

I think I am using yours but not sure, and I think if I am using another from another Plist they are they same....

I will check soon, have to go do something...

Here are the screens.

http://www.3dvfxdesign.com/files/SysProfiler1.jpg

http://www.3dvfxdesign.com/files/SysProfiler2.jpg

EDIT: Quick Q: would, in your plist, the only thing I would change would be the 7's to the 3's in the PCIRoot or would it be something else?

As it is right now in IOREG Explorer my NVCAP's are (from the first to the second display entry)

pcibridge@0 - display@0
<04 00 00 00 00 00 0f 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 07 00 00 00 00>

and

pcibridge@2 - display@0
<04 00 00 00 00 00 0f 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 07 00 00 00 00>

Same for both.

One more thought - PCI Devices

Just wanted to also mention I have a Trendnet Gigabyte Enet card in my system as well as a FW 800 Syba card. I pulled the Syba until I know the 295 is working but haven't pulled the Enet card, just wondering if that might be why I see 3 in PCIRoot where most others have a 1 there.

Just trying to actually learn something from all this torture.

Next up on the "pull out my hair" list is a P55 Core i7 860 system that likes to load and instantly reboot. Fun! Hoping 10.6.3 will come out for a weekend gift tomorrow but not holding breath.

The ethernet card will not change the PCI addresses. Every motherboard has it's own PCI addresses as they have slots in different places. The only time your PCI address can change is if you have a dual card as it introduces another controller chip which changes the address.

The two NVCAPS should not be both the same, if you look at the one I gave you they are both different. You need to use the NVCAPS that I gave you.

These were:

0400000000000100000000000000000700000000
0400000000000f00000000000000000700000000

You will have to try them both ways round as I don't know which card is which if you get my meaning. They need to be put in with plist pro (free download) or if you have Apple's developer tools, "Property list editor "and NOT text edit.

We're closer! 1 screen works other nothing....

But it doesn't black out both now. :)

The NVCAPS in the previous post did the same thing, 1 screen, 2 blacks em both.

Reversed though both can be plugged in without the main screen going black but still nothing on the 2nd.

Here's the plist just so you know what I am using....

 Tried swapping out the NVCAPS

One allows me to hook the 2nd screen up but it remains black.

The other way both screens go black with two DVI plugs inserted.

Comes back to one screen after 2nd one is unlugged.

MW

helppppppp...... hurting..... ;)

EDIT Sat Nov 7

Any ideas Aqua? I know you have a life outside of this forum and I sure do appreciate the 3 pages of help (Ack) but we're so close!

I was looking around and I am just not sure what all the PCIRoot numbers mean, so changing stuff at this point leaves me to many variables to just guess. I wouldn't mind going through 50 different combos but at this point I am perplexed as to where to start the hunt.

As always your genius is appreciated. Seriously.

Here is my dsdt.aml file in case this helps. It hasn't been modded, just a straight DSDT from the patcher.

Possibly an issue in there?

EDIT: Looked into my DSDT.dsl file and this is what I got for the area I think is supposed to define graphics. Looks.... um.. wrong. :)

I will take a look st my DSDT and come back to you. Can't seem to find anything like that on mine. Did you make your DSDT on your own computer or was it a fixed one downloaded from the internet. You could back this one up then make another and take a look inside I guess.

With DSDT patcher.

It is a weird entry for sure, at least that is what I thought when I looked at it.

Glad you haven't given up on me. I feel like Princess Leia in the holo message.... "You're my only hope...." hehehehehe

Any luck on that DSDT Aqua?

Just checking.. . humble grin, begging in front of one 40" screen and one 24" blacked out monitor.

Thanks...

You could try booting without your DSDT.aml in. If it makes no difference then that is not your problem.

Duh on me for not trying that to begin with....

Still at the same impasse though unfortunately Mr. Aqua. Or is that Mr. Mac.

Heck I'll call you Sean Connery if that helps you help me. :)

help.......

EDIT: Did you ever look at the ioreg file I sent? If the NVCAPS are right and the PCIRoot's are right, what else of significance is there to check?

Argh.

My Sys Profiler still says Slot 5/5a

Is that purely cosmetic or something that needed to change in the plist to do the hex dump so it would work right? Card is back in slot 1.

It is purely cosmetic. I saw that your card is in Slot 5 and the two cards share that slot. Have you tried 10.6.2 yet. Working here nicely but needed Netkas's files.
