Soldering Cables

hi to all.

Well this forum is really big help in hardware part of mooding the g5
cases, and examples of aquamacs internals are top of the tops...
But in many cases wires for front and fans look much like this:

First:
All pinouts around the net are working but are just from the wrong
perspective and soon you will know why.

Step 1.

We separate every cable for every pin.
One thing; your cables don't need to be long, well smaller the better but not to short... We remove plastic jacket and solder every end of a cable.

Same we do for cables that goes to motherboard:

I used USB plastic brackets for USB/FRWR/AUDIO and two small
separate ones for PWR/LED - you can find them in old case you took
apart to make G5, MSI for example is giving brackets in the box.

Now the funny part:
Well there is a saying in mine homeland that tape is like your finger in a hole when boat is sinking. you can stop water with your finger, but it is not a proper way to do it.

So, for our cables we need plastic jacket from 2.5mm cables you have
laying around or from a 220V PSU cable. these plastic jackets are
common in blue/green/brown colors, but you may find them
in black or red.

I found a piece of black 2.5mm cable and removed plastic jacket, cut in 18 parts.

Now I wrote pinout scheme from the back side of connector, use
pliers to hold mine connector still, used a gum to hold that, so mine
arms are free.
This way, and from this point of view it was a lot easier to solder and do checks.

One rule; three time checks one time solder, and you won't miss anything.

First I started with audio (bottom part of the connector) and was moving up.

And this is finished product:

If you want you can separate your USB/FRWR/AUDIO with black
plastic jacket from PSU cable like this:

This way your cables are clean, same idea I used on fan cable…
well and on every cable I need to solder.

For me everything worked from first round, like i said:
three time check, one time solder and you are good to go.
