Hi AquaMac,
Still looking on your setup, I'm envy u I don't have a G5 case, I like my Lian Li case, but if I ever get one for sure I will send it to you for some fixes I hope you saw the fix for AHCI crap, also feel free to share the audio part. Next on my list is the SAS controller, I got some results with help from a good friend: but still no hdd mounted...messing with that atm...

Hi theking,
Nice to see you here! I have followed you around a number of forums! Your audio fix is great, I have installed Chameleon and all boot files onto a 2 gig pen drive, so I can have a completely vanilla Snow hard drive. The only kext I have to put in the actual Snow Leo hdd is a modded AHCIPort to see the Marvell External sata.
That is great that you have got so far with the Sas controller. Did you mod a kext or did you play with your DSDT file? Yes I saw your fix for AHCI, now works great. Really pleased with this board.
If you want my installer for USB pendrive, just say. You can put your DSDT, com.apple.boot.plist, smbios.plist into the installer before you install then install to the pendrive. It also allows you to have dual screen and full res if you use netkas's 10.1 boot file and install from vanilla Snow DVD. You have to set IDE compatible for that though.
I have try to see why Headphones don't work and fiddled but I don't seem to be able to get that going - anyway that's no biggie as there are plenty of ports going that can be used for phones.
Now about SAS is a HighPoint binpatched kext, but the kext seems to need more work to get it working proper, I have no idea what to do more(as I said is not patched by me) I don't have a SAS drive but I test it with SATA one still no luck to get a hdd mounted or at least recognized by diskutil...
As you can see on last pic it say on Link Width x1, on Windows it say x4 on Linux x1 I dunno if that is a problem or not... Test it(check PM) maybe you can get a SAS drive...the kext is i386, no x86_64 driver for this HighPoint controller yet...
About Headphones make sure HD AUDIO is set in BIOS and you have the proper jack and cable with HD AUDIO/jack detect support I got the same trouble with my old case b/c the cable/jacks was just for AC97 specifications...

Thankyou very much, I will have a real good look at this when I get home from work tonight. I am really impressed with the "one kext does all" that you have also sent a link to - gonna give that a shot!

Please don't try on snow...snow is "weird" on storage controllers at least I can say... Until HighPoint will release a snow driver for this controller we are stuck on leopard for now...lets see if we can get it working on leopard first... So my dummy.kext seems to work for you

Yes, your dummy kext works fine. I just tried on Snow booting 32 bit every thing shows up where it should. What did you mean by weird. I will need to reinstall Leo then.

Aqua, which PC case did you take the rear IO/plate thingy from? I've been in and out of Maplins/PC world/eBay looking for a good example to use on the MacPro, I know its only got 5 not 7 but that just calls for creative cutting. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Joe,
Sorry for the long time in answering, I have been away!!!! The tray I used was by Coolermaster and is from their "wavemaster" case. I understand this has been discontinued now but it may be worth phoning them as I know they have supplied others directly with just this part at around £25, if they have not run out. If I see any other suitable candidates, I will post back here.
