Here are some preliminary shots of a Hackintosh in a Mac Pro Case that I am working on. I have some serious cooling planned for it, but all in good time. This case has to be the hardest, far more agro than a G5 case!! Running a 2.4Gig Core 2 Duo at 3.2 Gigs quite happily though. Both Northbridge and Southbridge get fairly toasty though so when I can scrape enough dough together there may be some watercooling here!
I sorted out the power button, led & audio so far, still have to tackle USB & firewire.

Ha Ha guys, I wish!! Thanks for the fine compliments, unfortunately I have no affiliation with Apple other than enthusiasm for their fine products and the fact that it is fun building computers. It's a good outlet from the frustrations of my real job and you also get to meet great people on the forums that share the same passion! I guess an R & D job at Apple has to be the ultimate job, I would think you would be one tiny cog in a vast team though! I wonder how many people they employ?

hi aquamac - I bought the same hardware 7 weeks ago but so far no luck with leo - think itīs the image...
congrats to your excellent work again - after I saw your G5 - i knew I had to go for a new mac pro case myself - I choose the G33 because with this mobo I was able to use the reartrays.
where did you get the extension for the main PSU cable?? I need that too!!!

I actually got the extension from the local PC World, believe it or not. It was not particularly expensive, about Ģ6 I think.
It may be your Leo image at fault, I personally never got that to work and actually cloned a Mac Pro install onto another drive that had been formatted as a master boot record partition. I then updated the relevant kexts from Tiger to get it to boot. Maybe there is a better download available now.

How was you able to Get a Mac Pro Case? I've Been looking every were to Find them.

I bought it on ebay with "buy it now" from Scrumpymacs. They bought a load of mac pro cases from Apple. Some were damaged but some were in new condition. I paid more to get a good one.

Thanks for the Tip, Hope I can snag one soon. I just got my Leopard rig going & need a nice new shiny Case to put it in

Thanks for for your kind words, I am in fact hoping that a dual rad will fit with 2 x 120 mm fans. I really want to cool the Northbridge too as the heatsink gets way to hot for my liking even though it seems to have no detrimental effect. I always think anything you cannot keep your finger on for too long is TOO hot! The heatsink is not from my wifes MDD (don't think I would be walking if it was!) but is as you guessed the big Zalman.

Hey Aquamac,
What motherboard are you running in your latest Mac Pro Hackintosh Pro... er whatever you wanna call it? It looks pretty tight in there... How much did you have to do to the case to make things fit? I think a triple rad would be utterly cool... ha.... =) Could happen... maybe not with this a Mac Pro case...

Nice board with lots of overclocking potential, but is a mini ATX. Fitting a std size ATX in a Mac Pro case meant doing away with the 2 rear drive bays and actually cutting half of the top tray out. I wanted to keep this as std as poss. Still work to be done at the rear, I have not cut the case at all, but the rear ports do not align properly, although the PCIe/PCI slots do perfectly. I plan on making a IO Plate in stainless steel or aluminium. I would love a triple rad but alas it is just too big... sigh!
The motherboard is held with custom made standoffs that worked a treat. I am currently away from home, but cannot wait to get back and get "stuck in".
